The way teams at the USA Club 7s Championships are put together varies—some are ongoing clubs that piece together a 7s team for the summer, some exist only for the summer, and some are something of a mixture of the two.
Schuylkill River Rugby out of the Philadelphia area is the first kind, with a heavy emphasis on using homegrown talent.
The teams and pools are set for the USA Club 7s Championships, which is presented by the Washington Athletic Club and held at the Starfire Sports Center in Tukwila, Wash.
The USA Women's 7s team beat China 28-14 in a game where China put them under some pressure, but ultimately put their rivals away.
The USA started poorly. China kept the ball and got an early high-tackle penalty.
The Vienna HS rugby program won the boys championship in the Virginia State Championships, taking the title in both Varsity and Middle School divisions.
Vienna beat West End in the semifinals and Richmond Strikers in the final.
Memphis, Tenn. — Premier Rugby Sevens, the new sports league featuring the top US Olympic rugby sevens athletes, today announced Memphis will host The PR7s Inaugural Championship at AutoZone Park on Saturday, Oct. 9.
