Berks County Rugby won the second in the fall series of RugbyPA 7s tournaments on Sunday defeating Gonzaga I in the final.
Hosted by Knightmare Rugby in Hempfield, Pa., the Boys tournament had two pools: Pool A was Berks, Gonzaga I, Bishop Shanahan, and West Shore United, while Pool B was Hempfield, Cumberland Valley, Conestoga. and Gonzaga II.
Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s), the all-new professional rugby league making its debut with top North American men’s and women’s players on Saturday, Oct. 9, announced today that TSN is the league’s official Canadian television broadcast partner. The league’s launch event, dubbed The PR7s Inaugural Championship, includes nine Canadian players and two Canadian coaches.
The West ADA Girls 7s league is moving along in Idaho, and while we Eagle remains a tough team to fly with, Mountain View is flying almost as high; one reason for that is Avery Morgan.
Mountain View bounced back from a 1-1 start to beat upstarts Owyhee in Week 2 and Centennial and Rocky Mountain in Week 3 to improve to 4-1. (Eagle is 5-1 after beating Owyhee and Meridian this week).
The USA Men's finish at the Vancouver 7s was undone by a couple of silly errors and one poor refereeing decision, but overall, still, the young Eagles did well.
The USA Women's 7s outing in Vancouver was small, but a baby step toward the next chapter.
The Eagles beat Canada twice, by the same 22-12 score in fact, and slammed Mexico (who, unfortunately weren't able to score a point all weekend), but could not get past Great Britain, losing 41-12 in Pool Play and 34-12 in the final.
