GRR: Tri-State Conference
In a month the USA Rugby Men's DII College playoffs start, and there are still some seeds and spots to be confirmed.
The US Merchant Marine Academy is now clear atop the Tri-State Conference after beating William Paterson 50-5 Saturday.
The result was an impressive one as WPU is certainly one of the major competitors in the Tri-State Men's DII conference, and to have Kings Point beat them by 45 points is a bit of a head-turner.
William Paterson University Men ran away with the Tri-State Conference 7s title in style and the New Jersey school collected their third consecutive conference 7s crown. Not only did WPU win the championship but their ferocious defense held all attackers at bay as they did not concede any points over their 3 pool games games, the quarterfinal, semifinal and final!
This past weekend saw William Paterson University Men defeat USMMA, Kings Point Men convincingly 69-5 in a semifinal match-up. The home team earned a place in the final this year and will face Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Men who defeated Marist College Men 36-24 in the other conference final 4 match-up.
Marist won an exciting final of the Tri State Conference, beating Albany 20-10 to take the championship this past weekend.
With the weather finally turning warmer, it was a perfect day for 7s at Fairfield University. Sixteen teams took part in the event, with four pools of four.
