GRR: Raleigh Redhawks
Vienna took on both the Clayton Rugby Club and Raleigh Redhawks over the weekend, although it all didn't quite go as expected.
Vienna did well, and beat both teams, but because of heavy winter weather in North Carolina early in the weekend, Raleigh's home pitch was closed, forcing a change in that game from Saturday to Sunday.
Teams from all over the Southeast will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. May 22-23 for a series of cross-border games.
The Florida Invitational Rugby Showcase will feature 15s games all weekend. The Charlotte Tigers, Raleigh Redhawks, Florida Jaguars, Wellington Wizards, and Jacksonville Wolverines will be there, with some of those clubs fielding younger-level teams as well.
The Raleigh Redhawks finally opened their 15s season this past Saturday, playing against rivals the Raleigh Rattlesnakes, and coming away convincing winners.
The Redhawks were scheduled to play their first 15s game about a month ago but a non-rugby-related COVID infection among two players in the team forced the Redhawks to withdraw from that event.

The Charlotte Tigers followed up on their 3rd-place finish at the Boys HS Rugby National Championships with a 48-24 defeat of the Raleigh Redhawks to win the North Carolina state HS club championships.
The Tigers B side also won the Tier 2 championship.
