The Chapel Hill Highlanders are the North Carolina Boys HS Club champions after they beat the Union County Lions 25-12 Saturday.
The victory secures the Highlanders a place in the HS Club tier of the Boys HS Rugby National Championships in Charlotte this coming week, while Union County will play in the Combined Bracket at the same event.
Charlotte Catholic defeated Myers Park 43-21 Saturday to win the North Carolina single-school championship.
Myers Park gave Catholic all they could handle, and Catholic Head Coach Ian Mueller said his team needed plenty of resilience and fitness to win.
The Chapel Hill Highlanders and Union County Lions won semifinal games this weekend to make the North Carolina HS Club final next week.
It was a physical clash between Union and the Charlotte Tigers. Union County is a relatively young team and over the season that group has been coming together.
Charlotte Catholic and the Chapel Hill Highlanders continued on their winning ways in North Carolina.
Catholic defeated the Hough Huskies 57-0 and remain undefeated in the Single-School league where Myers Park sits 7-1 and atop the division.
The Highlanders, too, are unbeaten, and recorded a 47-7 defeat of the North Meck Vikings to go 4-0.
As the North Carolina HS Boys Club season hits the home stretch, everything is on the line for the Chapel Hill Highlanders, Union County Lions, and CJRA Charlotte Tigers.
