Some latest news from the Regional Cup Tournaments around the country:
In the Challenge Cup (Mid-Atlantic) in Pittsburgh, Virginia ends the day as the #1 seed in Boys Varsity, with Indiana, Florida, and Maryland rounding out the top four. Virginia plays Maryland in the semis and Indiana plays Florida.
Ten teams gather at the Mid-Atlantic RCT in Pittsburgh in a hugely competitive Boys select-side competition.
The Washington Loggers sport nine players from state champion and national high school runner-up Kent, while five other clubs bolster the 21-player roster. Parisa Asgharzadeh, who is fresh off of the Seattle Saracens’ DI club championship victory, is head coach and takes the all-star team to the Northwest Regional Cup Tournament (RCT) in Portland, Ore., this weekend.

Last year, Virginia won the Pittsburgh Challenge Cup (aka Mid-Atlantic Regional Cup Tournament) over Empire City 6-0, and that two-penalty-goal loss is not something the New Jersey/New York City-based team wants to repeat. All-star head coach Tom Feury has assembled a star-studded coaching staff and pooled some good talent for a run at the trophy this weekend.
