The official D1A ranking, voted on by conferences and the media, is back with this week's Top 25.
These rankings are used, in part, to decide playoff matchups. Leading the way right now is Cal. The votes have also concluded that while Lindenwood may well have been the best team last season, with the players they graduated, they drop down a shade, to #4.
Try-scorers and points machines seem to dominate this week's D1 College Gamebreakers.
Here are the best performers of the week:
Mike Weir, DartmouthIn a tense 21-10 win over Army, Weir, playing flyhalf, set up the Big Green attack and also kicked two key penalty goals plus a conversion, and a well-taken long-range drop goal, to lead the way.
Indiana remains undefeated in the Big Ten but it wasn't an easy thing as the Hoosiers had to slog through the mud to beat Michigan State on Saturday.
With the going slow the speedy Indiana attack was someone nullified and managed only one try. It was enough as IU survived 10-0.
Davenport put in a strong result this weekend with a 55-31 defeat of Iowa Central Community College.
The Red River kicks off after the teams in that conference have warmed up against teams in the Lonestar Conference.
