DIA Rugby News
As we look ahead to this weekend in D1A rugby, it's kind of a rare thing at this time of year to see Cal idle.
The D1A rankings are back for 2022 and while we didn't give you an update last week we have one for this week.
It's interesting to see that the voters have chosen a new #1, and also that while we at GRR (we are one of the voters) have had a different #1 from the overall poll, the new #1 isn't our new #1.
Here's the official poll:
Cal Poly picked themselves up after a loss to Saint Mary's and turned it around Saturday to beat Santa Clara 67-17.
A huge second half propelled Central Washington to a 46-3 defeat of Western Washington Saturday in Bellingham, Wash.
Up just 10-3 10-3 at halftime, the Wildcats scored six unanswered tries in the second half to run away with it.
Central's offensive explosion in the second half came after what head coach Todd Thornley said was a tough first half for the Wildcats.
Grand Canyon and University of Arizona tied 28-28 Saturday evening in a game that did much to help build the rivalry between the two Arizona colleges.
The game was pretty dramatic to start with, but was almost more so as Ethan Van Tonder's 48-meter penalty kick drifted wide as time wound down.
