DIA Rugby News
Long Beach State won its opening game of the Gold Coast season, beating Arizona State 34-13.
UC Santa Barbara logged their first California Conference game since landing new Head Coach Neil Foote, and came away with a 36-12 win over UC Davis.
UCSB has already played, losing to Cal, and then last week's game against San Diego State was called off. Foote was pleased to see what his team has learned since that Cal game.
In a bizarre and very entertaining game in Moraga, Saint Mary's came back from 31-12 down to beat UCLA 41-31 in a non-conference D1A showdown.
BYU made the trip to Ellensburg, Wash. and handed Central Washington a tense 22-17 defeat Saturday.
The Cougars bounced back from a loss at Saint Mary's last week, and this time overcame a red card to prop Billy Tenney in the first half to hold off a Central Washington comeback.
Of the DIA games we've got this week all are between DIA opponents (as opposed to crossovers with DIAA teams), and almost all are in-conference.
So that means this is a serious week for the entire division.
