With a crowd of thousands watching on, the MARVC Championship played out closer than many expected, with Georgetown Prep pushing Gonzaga to the edge.
It was 15-8 for Gonzaga until the very end of the game, when Reggie Corbin’s try put it away and won the championship 20-8 for the top-ranked single-school team.
MAVRC Final Set
Georgetown Prep is set to tie on Gonzaga in the MAVRC conference championship this coming weekend, after both teams won semifinals this week.
Georgetown defeated Salesianum 53-14 on Saturday, scoring two tries in the opening ten minutes, and, with James Lyons operating nicely at flyhalf, pulling away after that.
Exiles Win Maryland
IN a clash between two teams that had tied earlier in the season, the Maryland Exiles HS team defeated North Bay 57-10 to win the Maryland HS club title Saturday at Warner’s Rugby Farm, the home of the Wild Geese Old Boys Rugby Club.
Playoffs Loom in Maryland Leagues (Updated)
Georgetown Prep continues to put in good performances and ended their season undefeated after beating Perry Street Prep 52-0.
That sets up a Metro Area Varsity Rugby Conference semifinal matchup with Salesianum.
Maryland International Youth Festival This Weekend
The Maryland Exiles will be hosting the Maryland International Youth Festival this coming weekend at the campus of Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md.
Thirty-four boys teams in four divisions will compete, and 14 girls teams will also play.
