7s Camp for Final World Series Tournaments
USA Rugby Announcement - CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The latest Men’s Eagles Sevens High Performance Camp begins Wednesday, April 15, at the Olympic Training Center, with 20 athletes set to compete for 12 roster spots at the final two rounds of the 2014-15 World Rugby HSBC Sevens World Series.
Some Notes and Thoughts from 7s World Series
Some notes from the USA men’s 7s team trip to Hong Kong and Tokyo, in now particular order.
In Hong Kong the Eagles made the top eight for the fourth tournament in a row in Hong Kong, but then missed the top eight in Tokyo for the first time since Dubai.
USA Wins Bowl in OT
The USA won the Bowl at the Tokyo 7s, recovering from a poor opening game on Day 1 to win four of their last five, and three in a row on Sunday.
USA into Bowl Final
The USA is into the Bowl Final at the Tokyo 7s after two dominant performances.
The Eagles enjoyed a huge game against Portugal, winning 39-0 on the back of seven tries and two conversions. Folau Niua was back in the lineup and he was clearly eager to make an impact. Niua broke through to score the opening try, and another break set up the second one.
Bad Start Curses USA Tokyo Day One
The USA men's 7s team ended up last in their pool at the Japan 7s, but were just nine points away from making the Cup Quarterfinals.
