Eagles Make Change for London 7s
USA 7s team Head Coach Mike Friday has made one change to his squad going into the London 7s.
Nate Ebner will drop out of the team and suit up instead for the USA Falcons in Tours, France in a move that is obviously designed to get him more game time. Former West Point All American Ben Leatigaga comes into the USA team.
Friday Wants "Insane Desire"
The USA Men’s 7s team did not play well in Paris, lost in the Bowl semifinals, and slipped from 5th to 6th in the World Series standings.
In fact, given the Eagles’ recent form, they might slip to 7th. This is a far cry from the first seven tournaments of the season, during which they finished in the top eight all seven times, and finished in the top four twice.
Eagles 7s Picked for Paris
CHULA VISTA, Calif. - USA Men's 7s Head Coach Mike Friday has named his squad to play in the Paris 7s May 13-15.
Friday retains Nate Ebner, who made his return to the team in Singapore, and also brings back Danny Barrett, Garrett Bender, Zack Test, Folau Niua, Maka Unufe, Nate Augspurger, Madison Hughes, Perry Baker, and Martin Iosefo.
Bowl Runners-Up for USA in Singapore
The USA finished runners-up in the Bowl at the Singapore 7s, losing 14-10 to Scotland in the final game.
The Eagles beat Russia fairly comfortably, and then shut out Portugal in the Bowl semis - that game was notable in part because Nate Ebner got his first try for the USA, staking the Eagles to a 7-0 halftime lead.
USA 1-2 in Singapore - On to Bowl Bracket
The USA Men's 7s team wrapped up Saturday's pool play at the Singapore 7s with a 19-12 loss to New Zealand, which puts them into a Sunday matchup with Russia for the bowl quarterfinals.
