Central Washington Discontinues Rugby as a Varsity Sport
Three days after their rugby teams lost in the playoffs, Central Washington University has decided to discontinue varsity support for its two rugby programs.
Both the Men's and Women's rugby teams were varsity level. Both had enjoyed very good seasons this year. However, the decision had little to do with performance on the field and much, much more to do with financial issues.

BYU Pulls Away from CWU
Central Washington University put a little bit of a sense of worry in the minds of BYU, but ultimately the Cougars were a little bigger and a little fiercer than the Wildcats and prevailed 58-27 at BYU’s South Field Saturday.
CWU Pushes O-Club
Central Washington University’s men’s team took a trip south to the San Francisco Bay Area to play Olympic Club in a warmup game for both teams.
It was a useful test for the Wildcats are they needed to get outside and play some tough, experienced competition. Olympic Club came away 19-15 winners at the Cal Maritime Academy campus.
Central Wash Still #1 in West
Despite the score, a very good game occurred between Central Washington and BYU on Saturday. The pair are inarguably the two best DI teams that are competing in-season in the West right now, and the friendly offered insight into their progress as they build toward the DI Elite championship in the spring.
