Saturday's NCR Finals action gives us Kentucky looking for a repeat and Bowling Green trying to get back to the heights they hit in 2018.

Kentucky has been the #1 team in the SCRC all season and there didn't seem to be much doubt about that ... until the conference final.

The two top NCR D1AA teams from this fall are in this weekend's final, but spare a thought for two teams that were just inches away.

Louisville didn't even make the NCR playoffs, as the MAC only received one sed to the NCR knockouts. So it was all or nothing in the final. Louisville played Bowling Green twice, losing in the regular season 28-27 and 34-33 in the MAC final.

Just as the NCR D1AA playoffs heat up the temperature chills out.

This coming weekend in Reading, Pa. is expected to be cold … very cold … but the four teams remaining in the playoffs will have to shake that off to make the final what everyone hopes will be a warmer final a week later in Houston.

In a wildly entertaining and tense Mid American Conference final, Bowling Green came back from 20 points down to defeat the Louisville Cardinals 34-33 and win the conference championship.

These teams have played twice this season, both Bowling Green victories, and both by a single point. The earlier match ended up 28-27 for the Falcons.

Bowling Green held on to beat Louisville 28-27 in the meeting between the top two teams in the Mid-American Conference DIAA league.

The Falcons ran out to a 21-10 halftime lead thanks to two tries by hooker Ben Young and one by fullback Joe Romshe. Center Joey Apel hit a penalty goal and wing Owen Slimmer landed a rare drop goal.
