Bowling Green Tightens Grip on MAC Lead With Win Over Louisville
Bowling Green defeated Louisville in this weekend's clash of the top teams in the Mid-American Conference.
The Falcons led comfortably through much of the game, holding a 28-5 advantage until late in the game. Co-captain and No. 8 Phil Tracey scored three tries on the day, while Griffin Wilson added another and Joey Apel converted all four.
Cincinnati Stays in the Mix in the MAC
Don't look now but University of Cincinnati is 3-1 in the MAC.
In a conference that looks to be pretty competitive even including the teams who haven't won games, there does appear to be an almighty race for playoff spots. Louisville (3-0) and Bowling Green (3-0), are certainly secure (and they meet up October 21), and Western Michigan is still around at 2-1.
Louisville Strong Atop MAC
Louisville remains atop the MAC after another convincing victory this weekend, shutting out Ohio 51-0.
The Cardinals have yet to allow a try in conference play this season, having given up just three penalty goals while scoring 196 points in three games.
Several newer players got some time against Ohio and the defensive effort was still impressive.
Bowling Green Wins Rivalry Clash With WMU
Bowling Green took a big step in the Mid-American Conference with a 27-15 defeat over Western Michigan Saturday.
Both teams are relatively young, but it seems as if WMU is a little bit less experienced, and it certainly seemed apparent that if the Broncos would have been a bit tidier in their connections, they would have caused the Falcons some more problems.
Big Win for Louisville as Cardinals, BG, and WMU Lead MAC
Louisville, Bowling Green, and Western Michigan are all at 2-0 now in the DIAA MAC Conference after all won over the weekend.
WMU won comfortably over Ohio 56-7 to move to 2-0, while Bowling Green got by Dayton 64-8. This sets up a clash between these two longtime rivals on Saturday.
Louisville, meanwhile, faced an improving Cincinnati and came away with a dominant 77-3 win.
