Wisc State Championships This Weekend

For the fifth year in a row, Divine Savior Holy Angels and Catholic Memorial will meet in the Wisconsin Girls High School State Championship. But there is a whole slate of games ready to take place this Sunday, Oct. 25 in Milwaukee.

N Suburban Wins MN State 7s

North Suburban won the Minnesota Girls High School State 7s Championship, bettering longtime powerhouse Armstrong 29-10 in the final. Armstrong had defeated Hopkins 36-7 in the semifinals, while North Suburban blanked a combination side of Orono, South Metro, and Minnetonka 51-0 for the title berth.

Armstrong Rallies for 6th State Title

Leading into the Minnesota girls state final, Armstrong coach Jimmy Hanson anticipated one of the best championship matches that the league has seen in a long time. Hanson proved prophetic, as his side had to rally from a first-half deficit to eventually overcome North Suburban 31-17 – a score that belies the intensity and competitiveness of the game itself.

Rutland Edges Essex for Vermont Trophy

The Vermont Girls U19 Championship brought all the heat that one hopes for in a state final: two teams both capable of a title, a tight score, and a little bit of history to make winning the trophy that more rewarding.
