Royal Irish and St. Edward Renew Rivalry
Royal Irish may have beaten St. Edward 15-0 during the Lindenwood Tournament last week, but you might also feel comfortable discounting that result.
Lindenwood Tournament Day One
The Lindenwood Tournament returned this weekend with six top HS teams in action Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, despite chilly and snowy conditions at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., all of the games were held.
St. Edward Edges St. Ignatius for Ohio Crown
St. Edward won the Rugby Ohio state championship Friday night, defeating longtime rivals St. Ignatius 12-7 in a typically difficult, tense game.
St. Edward took the lead with an unconverted try in the first half, but St. Ignatius replied and 7-5 at the break.
St. Edward Shocks Gonzaga
St. Edward scored a late try from Patrick Conway to pull off a shock 17-12 win over #1-ranked single-school team Gonzaga Saturday.
This game was the first of a two-game tour of Ohio for Gonzaga, with St. Ignatius coming up next.
St. Edward Over St. Ignatius in Ohio
Ohio rivals St. Edward and St. Ignatius met Thursday night in the first of what is likely to be at least two, and maybe more meetings this season, and St. Edward ran away with a convincing 31-5 victory.
These two teams battle each other each year and the game are usually very close. Not so this time around, as St. Ed's scored five tries and had a handful called held-up in-goal.
