The USA women have not officially clinched an automatic berth in the 2024 Olympics, but they as good as did the job in Vancouver.
The USA women are into the semifinals of the Canada 7s in Vancouver, which is where they've landed every tournament this season.
The Eagles did it with a little more flash and dash than in their previous tournament, working quicker offloads off the deck rather than just setting rucks.
In a way it was a deeply head-shaking weekend for the USA Women's 7s team.
The results, in the end, did the job. They beat Canada, Great Britain (twice), and Ireland on their way to 3rd in the Sydney 7s. But they also slipped against Fiji—a talented Fiji to be sure—and found success against France fleeting.

Team GB had achieved their best finish in the World Series season last time out, taking 5th, but it had been a weird, up-and-down performance. Great Britain was much more consistent this time around and against the USA were tenacious on defense and opportunistic.
It was tough going for the USA in Day One of the Sydney 7s.
