De La Salle put an emphatic finish on the California school competition with a 52-24 defeat of Torrey Pines in the final held at the Saint Mary's College stadium.
Jesuit of Sacramento took 3rd, holding off a determined Long Beach Poly 28-22.
Torrey Pines held off Long Beach Poly 31-26 in a dramatic and intense SoCal school final.
Both teams will move on to the All-California finals against De La Salle and Jesuit in Northern California.
Torrey Pines takes on Long Beach Poly Saturday in the Southern California D1 school final, and it's certainly a study in contrasts.
In a competitive and intense night of rugby Carlsbad took the Southern California Open Division school title with a 22-12 victory over St. Anthony's.
The teams played shortened games on the night, with Carlsbad defeating La Jolla 26-7 and St. Anthony's edging Crean 19-14. Crean beat La Jolla 28-7 to take third.
