In a competitive and intense night of rugby Carlsbad took the Southern California Open Division school title with a 22-12 victory over St. Anthony's.
The teams played shortened games on the night, with Carlsbad defeating La Jolla 26-7 and St. Anthony's edging Crean 19-14. Crean beat La Jolla 28-7 to take third.
Fallbrook took home the Southern California Girls School 7s this past weekend, defeating Tosero, Poway, and Torrey Pines to secure the championship.
The reigning champions Fallbrook their success into this year, sweeping the regular season competition and, most impressive, allowing zero tries.
Southern California enters its school team playoff phase, and one part of that for the boys is a 7s championship.
Eighteen teams participated in the Boys D1 7s this winter, with six more playing in the Open division.
Of the 18 in D1, nine are now in the playoffs:

Pool B: Valley Center, Poway, Laguna Beach
Carlsbad defeated St. Anthony's 43-7 Saturday, moving to 3-0 in SoCal Youth Rugby's Open Division.
The game was might tighter than the score reflects, with St. Anthony's center Sone Aupio causing Carlsbad plenty of problems when he had the ball.
Crean Lutheran seems to have hit their stride after suffering a tough loss last week, rebounding to beat La Jolla in impressive fashion 52-14 Friday night in Southern California.
The Saints entered the second of a tough three-game stretch and looked to bounce back after losing 47-12 to St Anthony's last week.
