GRR: Raptor Rugby Tennessee
The Ravenwood Raptors cruised convincingly through the field to win the Tennessee HS Girls 7s Saturday in Knoxville.
With COVID restrictions making it tough for teams to be able to prepare, only four teams competed, and the competition was then formatted into a six-game round-robin.
The stage was set for another tough match between the Harpeth Harlequins and the Ravenwood Raptors of Middle Tennessee Saturday as these two teams played the Tennessee state final Saturday.
Harpeth and the Ravenwood Raptors will meet for the Tennessee Boys HS Final after both won convincingly over the weekend in the semifinals.
The Raptors shut out Christian Brothers 34-0. Harpeth went 14 better, shutting out Barden 48-0.
The Harpeth Harlequins finished up their conference play in Tennessee with a 10-7 defeat of Sumner County and a 27-0 shutout of rivals Ravenwood.
Harpeth and Ravenwood end the regular season #1 and #2 in Middle Tennessee.
Sumner County really pushed Harpeth and also pushed Ravenwood. Their defense is excellent and relentless.
The procedure wasn’t expected to be a big deal - wrestlers and rugby players, and Jesse Phillips was both, get their noses bashed around a bit - but it ended up being a very, very big deal.
