GRR: North American Pro Rugby
PRO Rugby has confirmed that Denver and the City of Glendale will be the location of one of its teams for the inaugural season.
Already teams have been announced for San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Obletz, Ohio (just outside Columbus). This fifth and final city announcement confirms also that the team will play at Glendale's Infinity Park Stadium.
Paule Barford, who has been a successful and well-respected coach in college and age-grade circles for years, will be the Head Coach of Pro Rugby's team in Ohio.
Pro Rugby USA has announced that a team will be placed in Ohio for the inaugural season, slated, still, to begin in April.
Sacramento, San Francisco, and San Diego have all been announced officially, with Denver expected to be one more city. The original list of six teams is reportedly now down to five, with each team playing four home games and four away games.
Just under 60 players assembled in Southern California Saturday for the first combine for Pro Rugby North America.
PRO Rugby has announced that it will hold its first combine at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, Calif. December 19-20, 2015.
PRO Rugby will be working with Tiger Rugby, an approved USA Rugby National Development Academy, to administer the combine. PRO Rugby is seeking both current players and non-rugby high-performance athletes for its inaugural 2016 season.
