GRR: Louisville
Louisville has started very strong with victories over Dayton, Cincinnati, and Pitt.
Now, faced with a bye before a bit of a buzz-saw as Western Michigan, IUPUI, and Bowling Green face them in quick succession.
The Cardinals will be leaning on the talent of AJ Ayres, who is our D1AA Player of the Week.
Unsurprisingly Bowling Green won big in the Mid American Conference, but while the Falcons have cruised to 2-0 so have the Louisville Cardinals.
And Louisville might be the team that everyone is keeping an eye on. The Cardinals beat Cincinnati 54-10 on Saturday to move to 2-0.
sure and execution was better this week.
Bowling Green repeated as Mid-American Conference Champions Sunday, beating Western Michigan 48-15 in the final and making it six finals wins since 2014.
The MAC top four are decided after this week's results.
IUPUI needed a Cincinnati loss (which they got) and an IUPUI win (they lost 31-24 to Louisville) to make the semis, and just missed. Bonus points almost, but not quite, mixed up the standings. WMU's penchant for scoring tries even if they lose, and IUPUI's two close losses almost got them up a spot.
In another example of how competitive it is in the Mid American Conference, GRR #11 Louisville beat GRR #12 Western Michigan 36-30 in a back-and-forth encounter.
Louisville trailed in the second half before a yellow card for a high tackle put WMU down a player, and the Cardinals punished the Broncos with two converted tries to help turn the game around.
