Playoffs Loom For MAC
The Mid-Atlantic is coming down to the final three weeks before the playoffs and five teams are still strongly in the hunt for a conference title.
We'd say six teams, not five, but things aren't looking good for Ohio University. A little less than two weeks ago the University suspended every male fraternity on campus. Days later they suspended some sororities, and then the marching band (with a caveat that they still play at football games, of course) and then some sports clubs, including the rugby team. It is all a massive student activity purge to fight hazing.
The upshot then is that it's likely that the Ohio team may not be available for its remaining two games. That means that Dayton and IUPUI will get victories, and that's a boon to IUPUI.
Western Michigan would be heavily favored November 2 against Dayton, but the October 26 clash against Cincinnati is a big one. If Cincy wins then 1st place is completely up for grabs. Bowling Green plays Louisville October 26 and that game could vault either team into 1st if WMU falters.
Of course, Cincinnati has to get by BGSU this coming weekend, and vice versa. WMU, BGSU, Cincinnati, IUPUI, and Louisville are all in a position to make the top four.
But Louisville has to win this weekend to stay in the fight.
