D1AA playoff time is this weekend.
NCR's D1AA playoffs are in a couple of weeks so obviously those conferences are deciding their champions and seeds, but even CRAA conference Heart of America is entering its knockout stage.
Teams in NCR are thinking playoffs but there are key games elsewhere, too.
Western Michigan vs Cincinnati has import in the MAC. The MARC is now into their quarterfinals, so every game matters.
We're still figuring out what's going on in the Southern Conference, and NCRC, and Lonestar. Sam Houston State vs Rice is always a good rivalry.
Well ... whaddayaknow ... our #2 lost; our #5 lost (to an unranked team, no less).
That's going to shake things up, no?
Louisville lost by a single point to a very good Bowling Green, and we'd be forgiven if we had just elevated BGSU to #2.
But we didn't.
Both the Falcons and the Cardinals are hovering in the Top 5, but now it's all up in the air.
University of Oregon pulled off a bit of a shocker this past weekend, beating #5-ranked Western Washington 17-15.
This was not expected, as WWU has been on top of the NCRC for quite a while and just beat a strong Boise State side 55-0.
Bowling Green held on to beat Louisville 28-27 in the meeting between the top two teams in the Mid-American Conference DIAA league.
The Falcons ran out to a 21-10 halftime lead thanks to two tries by hooker Ben Young and one by fullback Joe Romshe. Center Joey Apel hit a penalty goal and wing Owen Slimmer landed a rare drop goal.
