(University of Utah Release) – After a very successful return to collegiate Rugby in both 15s and 7s following a two-year suspension enforced by the University, University of Utah Men's Rugby is making some changes.
College Rugby Awards Get Award of Their Own
The inaugural Rudy Scholz and MA Sorensen Awards have been honored for an award in their own right.
The Scholz and Sorensen Awards were created by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, Wash., in conjunction with Goff Rugby Report and with the support of USA Rugby's Collegiate division, and recognize the best Men's and Women's collegiate rugby players.
Lindenwood Sanction Decision Expected Soon
The final ruling on a sanction of Lindenwood University's men's rugby team could come down as early as next week as DIA voted to punish the program for a series of actions.
U20 College-Club League Starting in West
Rocky Mountain Rugby has started a new U20 initiative, becoming the pilot program for USA Rugby.
The idea is to provide competitive options for players 18-20 - perhaps players who are not in college or not in a college that has a rugby team.
College Story of the Year - The Split
The ongoing story of the year in Men’s college rugby was obvious to me before I had my conversation with Wayne Milner, but that conversation certainly confirmed it.
Milner is the senior VP at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle, and we met last fall to initiate talks that led to the formation of the Rudy Scholz and MA Sorensen awards.
