BERKELEY, Calif. (Cal Rugby plus additional notes) – A depleted Cal lineup continued to play valiantly, if not flawlessly, Saturday on Witter Rugby Field, beating UCLA, 37-3, to claim a share of the top spot in the PAC Rugby Conference.

Lindenwood defeated Arizona 88-5 Saturday in a non-conference meeting of two DIA teams.
Lindenwood is ranked #5 among all DI programs by Goff Rugby Report, while the Wildcats are #21.

Utah Comes Back to Beat Arizona
The University of Utah came back with a torrid second half to beat Arizona 39-31 in the opening weekend of PAC Rugby Conference play.
Arizona, which welcomed back four players from the USA U20 camp, stormed to a first=half lead, exposing some weak tackling on the part of the Utes.
But Utah came back in the second half, getting back to their attacking pattern.
Arizona Beats Grand Canyon
The University of Arizona thumped Grand Canyon 59-3 in a 2016 opener for both Grand Canyon State programs.
Arizona Head Coach Sean Duffy started some younger players and said he was pleased to see some good performances.
Sophomore center Ben Joseph and freshman Flanker Ryan Fitzpatrick both scored two tries. Meanwhile, Dante Weeks scored a try and also set up a couple.
