Maryland Escapes Va Tech - More on ACRLWhile Clemson rolled on and Wake Forest got their first victory of the season, the big game in the Atlantic Coast Rugby League was likely Maryland against Virginia Tech, and in many ways that matchup did not disappoint. Maryland, averaging over 80 points a game, were stymied by a very strong Va Tech defense, and managed only two tries on the day.
Ivy League Wrap - Dartmouth and More
Dartmouth remains unbeaten in the Ivy League with a comprehensive 44-10 defeat of Penn Saturday in a weekend that will see both Dartmouth and Princeton play twice.
The Big Green got tries from Ryan Maguire, Zack Fowler, Benji Hannam (who scored two), Chris Oberg, Ollie Engelhart Max Parker and Michael McDavid.
AIC, BC on Collision Course
AIC and Boston College remain the top two in the East Coast Rugby Conference after both won convincingly Saturday.
Meanwhile, UConn notched their first league win of the season, edging Northeastern 15-14.
Kings Point, Stony Brook Dominate in EmpireStony Brook and Kings Point are on a collision course as both won big this weekend in Empire Conference play. Led by two tries from Josh Raines and tries from Tim Llull and Steve McQuire, Kings Point shut out Syracuse 24-0. It was a very rainy and wet day through much of the Northeast, which kept some scores low.
Big Ten Latest - Bunched at TopWisconsin lost but held onto 1st in the Big Ten, but the Badgers have three tough teams bearing down on them now. In a tight, exciting game, Wisconsin were edged by Michigan 32-27. Michigan took an early lead 3-0 thanks to captain Joel Conzelmann, but Ross Heginbottom equalized.
