HS Rugby: Gonzaga, Ignatius, Jesuit Sacramento All Win
Three well-regarded Boys single-school teams logged notable victories this weekend.
#1 Gonzaga
Gonzaga defeated #14 LaSalle out of Pennsylvania 62-10 on a very windy day at LaSalle's home field.
Heating Up in NorCal
A quick nod to the growing group of single-school HS teams helps the Northern California season heat up, but there's more going on, too.
Coming off a bit of a jamboree of games at Jesuit Sacramento, several of the school teams are pitted against each other looking toward an early-season single-school cup before the rest of the season is capped off.
NorCal Latest: Surprises Keep Coming
The results continue to be all over the place in Northern California Boys HS competition.
Granite Bay
Granite Bay pulled off something of a surprise with a 17-15 defeat of Jesuit. It was a strange day for Granite Bay Head Coach Chris Miller, who captained Jesuit many years ago, now found himelf marshaling his team through a rebuild and a defeat of his old team.
NorCal Latest: Danville, Menlo-Atherton Win
The #19-ranked HS club Danville beat #12 school team Jesuit in Sacramento Saturday, with the Oaks taking down the Marauders 22-12.
While Jesuit battled in this game and worked hard to keep it close, Danville, behind a hard-nosed forward effort, looked the more impressive team and was certainly the (slightly) more game-hardened.
NorCal Gets Going: SFGG, DLS, Jesuit Win
Northern California's first step into competitive HS rugby this year was a tentative one, but it still happened, and that's a little victory in and of itself.
