Gamebreakers - DI College Men
Here are players this week who showed something special in men's DI college games this weekend.
Peter Basnight
The West Point flanker was a terror on defense and scored what proved to be the game-sealing try for Army in their win over Wheeling Jesuit.
SWC Starts with Confident UNT
The Southwest Conference kicks off this weekend with defending champion North Texas looking very solid.
UNT is coming off a win in the pre-season Texas Cup competition, defeating Texas Tech in the quarterfinals, a tough Baylor team in the semis, and then St. Edward’s in the final 40-36.
Men DI College Rankings Rundown
It wasn't as exciting a weekend of DI Men's college rugby as we would have liked - there were far too many blowouts and very few games that were really compelling.
Oklahoma Comes Back to Beat Arkansas
The University of Oklahoma (ranked #30 this fall by Goff Rugby Report) defeated 39 University of Arkansas 41-25 Saturday in a non-conference clash in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Sooners had a lot of work to do to get by the scrappy Razorbacks, and in fact Arkansas controlled much of the first half, leading 19-10 at the break.
Colgate to 1st as Sea Wolves Chomp Hammerheads
Syracuse had a nice week atop the Empire Conference, but were knocked from their lofty perch Saturday as Stony Brook defeated the Hammerheads 33-26.
Stony Brook got three tries from Phil Salter and a solid effort from the forward pack for the victory.
