Iowa State Takes ACR 7s
Iowa State defeated Nebraska 20-10 to win the ACR 7s Championship Sunday.
In a tournament of close games, ISU rebounded from a 24-19 pool-play loss to Oregon and a 17-15 scare vs UTSA to edge one of the favorites, Fresno State, by two in the semis.
Air Force, Northeastern, UConn, Mass Leads CRAA 7s
Four teams are left for the College Rugby Association of America Women's D1 championship after Day One of the competition in Dallas.
Pool A
Rivals Northeastern and UConn looked set to collide once more and they certainly did. The Huskies produced a very balanced approach, hit hard, and produced a very good forward effort, including a big shove off a scrum to set up a try.
Teams and Comments in Men's Divisions of CRC 7s
The NCR CRC has its men's competitions set, with brackets and pools finalized.
Premier Bracket
The Premier Men's Division is a bracket format with 32 teams. The teams play one game to advance to the final 16 with the teams that lose that first round into a consolation bracket.
Penn State Puts Down Marker in 7s
As CRAA's 15s playoffs loom there's some 7s to be played, as well.
The CRAA 7s Championships will be held concurrently with the 15s finals on May 6-7 in Houston, with both a Men's and a Women's tournament. Who will suit up hasn't been confirmed but it looks like Penn State's men's team will be there after winnign the Big 10 7s this past weekend.
College 7s Roundup: UMW, Fighting Irish, SCRC
Mary Washington defeated St. Bonaventure to win their home 7s tournament Saturday.
UMW has been concentrating on 15s much of this winter/spring but with a relatively young 7s team (no seniors) edged a very good SBU side 19-17 in the final.
