An effort’s being made – that’s for sure. As fall schedules are released, it’s evident that college varsity programs have banded together and will be playing each other this upcoming season. What does that mean in terms of conferences, playoff berths, championships, etc.?
Winona Crowned Lakefront Champs
The title required an overtime surge in the final, but it was well worth it, as Winona won the Lakefront 7s women’s division for the first time in its history.
Women College 7s Top 20: June 10, 2015
Since our last – and first – Women’s College 7s Top 20 ranking, two events have occurred: USA Rugby’s College 7s Championship and the CRC 7s invitational. Those results obviously influenced the reorder of the rankings, but a few judgment calls were invoked that go against some place finishes.

Ego, ignorance, bias – whatever the root, every female rugby player has dealt with some level of inequitable treatment in her sport. The acknowledgement of that shared experience doesn’t justify its existence; the fight for deserved respect – among peers, in media, at national events – is a familiar battle.
Women's CRC 7s Preview
Although the height of the women’s college 7s season has come and gone, the CRC 7s cannot be overlooked. It’s a high-profile event for the men, and the 12-team women’s division will share in a fraction of that exposure. Pool play will be contested tomorrow, the Cup semifinals Saturday, and the final Sunday.
