Rugby NY Playoffs This Weekend
Four teams remain in the hunt for a New York state Boys DI championship, as the semifinals will be held this weekend.
The DI championship is named the Mike Tolkin Cup, after the current USA Men’s 15s Coach, who coached Xavier HS for many years, and also helped Xavier to a national championship as a player several million years ago.
Pelham Wins League Opener
In their first league game as a varsity sport, the Pelham HS rugby team defeated a solid Fordham Prep squad 40-22.
Xavier Wins NY Boys FinalXavier HS of New York City fell behind early but stormed back to defeat Buffalo's Kenmore 25-8 in the sinfal of the Rugby New York state boys HS final.
In the 3rd/4th game, Fordham Prep of NYC and Fairport of Rochester tied 25-25, after overtime didn't settle things. On penalty kicks, Fordham took 3rd.
