Who Is Stalking the Perennials in the MAC?
Pretty much every year in the Mid-American Conference has seen the same teams compete for the championship.
Bowling Green is in the hunt every year, and wins almost every year. But they have been pushed, with Louisville interrupting BGSU’s 40-year run of conference titles with championship wins in 2022 and 2023.
Cincinnati Stays in the Mix in the MAC
Don't look now but University of Cincinnati is 3-1 in the MAC.
In a conference that looks to be pretty competitive even including the teams who haven't won games, there does appear to be an almighty race for playoff spots. Louisville (3-0) and Bowling Green (3-0), are certainly secure (and they meet up October 21), and Western Michigan is still around at 2-1.
Bowling Green Takes MAC In Weekend of Momentum Shifts
Bowling Green repeated as Mid-American Conference Champions Sunday, beating Western Michigan 48-15 in the final and making it six finals wins since 2014.
MAC Wraps Season, Confirms Semifinalists
The MAC top four are decided after this week's results.
IUPUI needed a Cincinnati loss (which they got) and an IUPUI win (they lost 31-24 to Louisville) to make the semis, and just missed. Bonus points almost, but not quite, mixed up the standings. WMU's penchant for scoring tries even if they lose, and IUPUI's two close losses almost got them up a spot.
MAC Collision This Week
The clash of teams who are kicking themselves happens in the MAC as Western Michigan plays Louisville.
Both teams feel like they had hit upon the right way to beat league-leaders Bowling Green. Neither was able to sustain that though for 80 minutes.
