Montana Girls Gain Victory in Pitching Up
The Montana Girls select side might have lost all of their games at the Great Northwest Challenge, and might have struggled even to score, but even getting to Oregon was a victory.
Big Step for Oregon All-Star Boys
USA back Troy Hall has been involved with Rugby Oregon for some years now, but this was the first year that he actively took on the state select side, and in doing so he led the team to victory at the Great Northwest Challenge.
Washington Toughs Out Girls GNC
After a shaky 2014, the Washington Loggers girls program bounced back with a sweep of the competition in the Great Northwest Challenge.
The Loggers defeated Hawaii 24-5 and then Oregon 45-12 on Saturday, and then Montana 80-0 in the semis and Oregon 22-12 in the final on Sunday.
Celtic Elite Keeps Winning
The Celtic Elite boys rugby team from Ohio won the Midwest RCT in Rockford, Illl., defeating Missouri 38-14 in the semis and Illinois North 33-15 in the final.
With the Celtic having played in the Midwest Rugby Challenge, the Mid-Atlantic RCT, and the Midwest RCT, they have played ten games, winning nine. Their only loss was to eventual Mid-Atlantic winners Virginia 22-19.
Loggers Girls Take GNC
The Washington Loggers took the Great Northwest Challenge Girls Varsity bracket, outlasting a tough Oregon team 22-12 in the fins Sunday at the Hidden Creek Polo Club in West Linn, Ore.
The Loggers were paced by two tries from No. 8 Emily Prentice and two from flyhalf Leah Ingold - Ingold also kicked Washington’s lone conversion.
