Wild Weekend Promises Wild Season in Washington

It was a wild weekend in Rugby Washington as the two teams who had started the season 3-0 went down to defeat.

The Chuckanut Bay Steamers were shocked 44-7 by Kent, showing that the Crusaders learned the lessons of the previous week’s loss to Liberty. That moved Kent to 2-2 and Chuckanut to 3-1. But Chuckanut kept pace with Liberty as the Patriots were upset 17-14 by Budd Bay.

Young Chuckanut 3-0

Despite starting the season 3-0, the Chuckanut Bay rugby club in northern Washington state still has some work to do.

The U19 program that produced three Eagle props (Shawn Pittman, Nick Wallace, and Titi Lamositele) is working hard to develop some talented young players, but the operative word is “young.”

Liberty Impressive in RugbyWa

The Liberty Patriots produced something of a statement game Saturday as they defeated 1-0 Kent 50-12 in Rugby Washington league play.

Liberty seemed to be on top of their game plan for most of the game, putting pressure on the Crusaders and hardly letting them out of their half for the first 20 minutes.

Kent Back in Wash?

Well it’s been one weekend in the Rugby Washington boys HS league and already it’s a confusion.

Defending champions Seattle lost 24-22 to Kent, while Eastside, who started the season with solid aspirations, found themselves on the losing end against the always-athletic Liberty.
