GRR: Women DI College
After a lackluster start to its league season, Stanford rebounded with a convincing 52-0 win over Chico State to improve to 2-0 and top the Pacific Mountain Conference’s West standings. The Wildcats are now 0-2.
A nice race has developed in the Pacific Mountain Conference’s North division. Central Washington has established itself as the title favorite, but Washington State and Oregon are now embattled in a neck-and-neck for second. And there’s plenty at stake.
UC Berkeley (Cal) started its league season in winning fashion, defeating Chico State 35-10 on Saturday. The bonus-try performance shot the Lady Bears atop the Pacific Mountain West’s standings.
Arizona State (2-0) now leads the Pacific Mountain South after its 40-5 win over in-state rival Arizona (0-2). It was the only game to occur in the DI women’s college conference last weekend, as UC San Diego (1-0) and UC Santa Barbara (0-1) postponed their match.
Penn State, still the winningest team in the women's game.
2014 was a tumultuous year for women's colleges, but the controversies couldn't detract from some all-star performances. We honor award recipients for Women's College Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Player of the Year.
