GRR: Syracuse
SUNY Binghamton is the Empire Conference champion after scoring late to overcome Syracuse 21-20 in a game that encapsulated the conference’s tight, competitive nature.
Well is it settled after the regular season is over? Quite possibly.
The Empire Conference season ended with three games this weekend, and still most of the league with hope of making the conference final. League-leaders Binghamton lost, but got bonus points for four tries and a close loss, and that was enough to keep Binghamton in front.
The Empire Conference continues to be a wild one, as Colgate beat Syracuse to bunch everyone up again.
Syracuse came into this weekend's clash having beaten Stony Brook on the road and moved into 1st. Colgate, for their part, had started with an impressive win and then were shut out by Fordham and lost to Binghamton, as well. And yet, Colgate handed Syracuse a 39-10 defeat.
Well the message from the latest Empire Conference results has backed up Goff Rugby Report’s earlier assertion that this conference will be tough to call.
Defending Empire Conference champs Syracuse edged up-and-coming Fordham this past weekend 20-12 in the opening weekend of conference play.
That result, along with Stony Brook’s 17-15 over SUNY Binghamton and Colgate’s wild 57-36 win over SUNY Brockport, shows that the conference will be a close one this season.
