GRR: Super Series
The 2016 Olympics is finally a reality for the USA Women 7s team, and with that event penciled in the calendar, attention can now be shared with the Eagle 15s team. The upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup is in a three-year cycle, to better align with the Olympics and 7s World Cup, and will be contested in 2017 as opposed to 2018.
In just two-and-a-half weeks (June 27-July 5), four of the top six women's 15s teams will convene in Alberta, Canada. The USA has announced its 26-player roster (read more), and so have reigning Women's World Cup champ England, runner-up Canada, and #5 New Zealand.
The Super Series (June 27-July 5) marks the USA Women's first test series since the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup. Eagle head coach Pete Steinberg has selected a relatively inexperienced squad that will learn the ways of senior international rugby against World Cup finalists England and host Canada, and New Zealand.
