GRR: Stanford Women
The Stanford Women's Rugby team clinched the CRAA Women's D1 Championship title in a game that saw them victorious over Grand Canyon University 'Lopes with a final score of 36-19 on May 5th.
Rich Ashfield has been named Director of Rugby at Stanford University.
Ashfield, who has been serving as interim Head Coach of the USA Women's 15s National Team, will be overseeing operations for both the men's and women's teams at Stanford.
Stanford defeated Grand Canyon 39-22 in the CRAA Women's D1 spring quarterfinals Friday at Steuber Rugby Stadium in Palo Alto, Calif.
Also in Stanford BYU took on Cal and Sac State played San Diego State in a D2 quarterfinal. Sac State beat SD SU 41-12.
Jocelyn "Jossie" Tseng was a scrumhalf with intelligence and an excellent pass and vision who helped Stanford to national prominence and followed that up with success on the international stage,
Victoria Folayan emerged onto the American rugby scene as a 20-year-old at Stanford, where she was a huge part of the Crimson's two national championships.
