Furman University has won the Southern Conference and in doing so the Paladins put themselves in excellent position for a good national playoff run.

With the victory Furman takes the #1 seed out of the Southern, and will play in the bracket at their home fields in Greenville, SC. Should they win and make the final four, the Paladins host that final weekend, also.

Conferences are a step closer to deciding their champions in Men's DII College - here's a rundown of Saturday's action:

New England Wide. The much-anticipated clash between Coast Guard and Hartford didn't happen, as Hartford apparently conceded the conference to the US Coast Guard Academy. So Coast Guard moves on to the national playoffs.

It will be UNC-Charlotte against Furman next week for the Southern Conference championship after both won convincing victories in the semifinals on Saturday.

Furman slammed Coastal Carolina 47-0 behind a very solid defensive display. Despite playing 60 minutes down a man after lock
