GRR: Rugby Virginia
The Rugby Virginia boys HS season is down to two teams, as Fort Hunt and West End will face off after both won their preliminary playoff games this past weekend.
West End took care of a combined Newport News / Norfolk side 34-7, and Western Loudoun/great Falls 47-5.
The Raleigh Redhawks defeated Vienna in Virginia despite having some players late to the game due to traffic.
Legion pulled off a bit of a surprise over the weekend, defeating Fort Hunt 29-24 to win the Rugby Virginia state title.
With the 2018 high school season on the horizon, the Fort Hunt Warriors have been preparing for the tough campaign ahead.
While some teams rest and relax in the fall, the Warriors have been training since November. Even though 2017 was the team’s most successful season to date, head coach Dale Roach knows that this team has even more to offer.
Boys HS select teams from Virginia and Maryland met last week on the campus of Mount Saint Mary's in warmup games leading up to the South Regional Cup Tournament.
