GRR: PMC West
The Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference (PMRC) has named its playoff competitors, and eight teams spanning from San Diego to Pullman, Wash., will converge on Stanford March 28-29.
(submitted by Stanford Rugby) Stanford defeated a fast, physical, and athletic UC Davis for the second time this season, extending their Pacific Mountain Conference (PMC) West record to 4-0. In the first encounter, Stanford staged a late come-back to overcome the Aggies.
The Pacific Mountain West is a strong, albeit small, women’s DI college conference, and this season has provided a bevy of thrilling matches. Not even Stanford, the perennial league champion, has been exempt from near-losses and could easily be 2-2 right now instead of 4-0. But when the ball bounces in one team’s direction, it bounces away from another, and that’s where Cal has found itself.
After a lackluster start to its league season, Stanford rebounded with a convincing 52-0 win over Chico State to improve to 2-0 and top the Pacific Mountain Conference’s West standings. The Wildcats are now 0-2.
UC Berkeley (Cal) started its league season in winning fashion, defeating Chico State 35-10 on Saturday. The bonus-try performance shot the Lady Bears atop the Pacific Mountain West’s standings.
