Men's College 7s News
On Sunday, April 10 the Tri-State Conference Men's 7s Championship will be held at Hofstra University, with 16 teams in action.
The teams will come from 13 colleges, with three of those colleges, Hofstra, Vassar, and Marist, fielding two sides. The overall winner may advance to the NCR tournament on Memorial Day weekend in New Orleans.
For the first time since Spring, 2019, the Big Ten Universities Rugby Conference assembled for a league 7s tournament.
The players have changed since COVID – Minnesota has left the conference while Penn State has joined (for 7s only).
Wheeling University defeated The Citadel to win the Nail City 7s over the weekend.
The tournament, held at Wheeling featured 12 teams: Wheeling, WVU, Citadel, Robert Morris, Christendom, Franciscan, IUP, Alderson Broaddus, Slippery Rock, Clarion, Frostburg, and a Motley side. They were divided in four pools of three.
Mount St. Mary's won their second-straight Chesapeake Conference 7s tournament, beating Southern Virginia 17-14 in the final and now leading the conference series with a 13-1-1 record.
The Mount finished second in the first tournament on February 19 before winning the entire thing Feb 26 and again this past Saturday. The only team to beat them is Mary Washington.
We're about midway through the Notre Dame 7s and the cream is rising to the top.
