GRR: Ivy League
Five more games remain in the DIAA Round of 16 and we've got plenty of games that are tough to call.
Harvard will join the DIAA Round of 16 after the Crimson won two games in an Ivy League play-in this past weekend.
Harvard defeated Princeton 25-21 on Saturday and then held off Cornell 21-14 on Sunday to win the tournament (the Ivy League champion, Dartmouth, does not play in the DIAA playoffs, so the next four teams compete to find the seed to nationals).
Dartmouth College shocked pretty much everyone Saturday in beating Penn State in the opening round of the Varsity Cup.
“Nobody thought we would win,” said Dartmouth Head Coach Gavin Hickie, without a shade a bitterness. “Nobody, that is, except us.”
Coming off a close loss to Navy, Dartmouth has to feel like things are looking up as the Big Green faces West Point this weekend.
As March is around the corner there’s the little matter of figuring out who will be in the Men’s DIAA playoffs.
The DIAA championship is starting to garner some interest around the nation, and programs realize this is a good post-season for smaller DI programs, clubs, and up-and-coming quasi-varsity teams.
