GRR: Eagle Men
Refereeing remains under the microscope for international 7s as officials continues to be inconsistent in their management of games.
This was brought home to the USA team, which saw clear infractions against them not called, and even stuff like not even attempting to retreat 10 meters on a penalty and throwing the ball away not receiving a yellow card.
We don’t know if Kingsley McGowan will get a cap this weekend in the opening round of the Americas Rugby Championship, but it would be nice if he did.
McGowan, who starred for the High School All Americans, USA U20s, St. Mary’s, and now Trinity in Ireland, is from Houston and began his rugby journey at St. Thomas in Space City.
The Americas Rugby Championship will be broadcast live online on ESPN3 with USA games replayed on ESPN on actual TVs.

Difficulty in breaking through the midfield was an issue for the USA Men’s 7s team in Wellington, and while the Eagles beat Samoa and France, they lost to England, Fiji, and Australia thanks to a lot of effort being expended trying to get through solid defenses.
The USA Men's 7s team got a double injury blow last week as Brett Thompson hurt himself in training and Kevin Swiryn injured his knee during the team's final game against Fiji.
