Florida State blooded some newer players and for the second match in a row held a team scoreless in the second half to defeat South Florida 27-19 on Florida DIAA college league play.
Florida Atlantic moved to 6-0 in the Florida DIAA Conference with a 27-12 defeat of Florida International. Spencer Gray’s goalkicking was a key part of FAU’s charge, as he picked them up after a slow start with two key penalty goals in the second half, and 12 points in total.
Central Florida eked out a tight win over Florida International to get the Knights' first victory of the Florida DIAA league season.
Meanwhile, South Florida, Florida State, and Florida Atlantic all improved to 2-0, as they, along with 1-1 North Florida and Central Florida, look to be the stronger teams in the competition.
For some reason, University of Central Florida seems to start slowly these last few years, but in the end, the Golden Knights always make a move late.
Central Florida and Florida State will be playing for the South Independent Conference championship Sunday after both won their semis over their Northern rivals Saturday.
FSU defeated Kennesaw State 43-7 on Saturday. Frazer Baron, Kody Boswell, Cameron Chadsey, and Anthony Soto all scored tries. Evan Barada scored two, and FSU also got a penalty try.
