GRR: Aspetuck
In a game between two highly-ranked teams in Connecticut, Staples HS (ranked #5 among school teams) tied Aspetuck (ranked #10 among HS clubs) on Friday night.
In a physical, spirited match, Staples did well to contains a very dangerous set of Aspetuck backs and some powerful forwards.
Aspetuck came back from a 28-22 to defeat #16 Vienna in Virginia.
Aspetuck used their quick forwards to secure ball and recycle smartly as they built an early 8-0 lead. Using the power running of Matt Weiner and Amari Phillips, the Aspetuck forwards were quick to get over the ball and keep marching down the field.
Aspetuck played Fort Hunt last week on a bright Saturday in New York in what was a welcome high-rankings meeting for both.
"We appreciate Fort Hunt setting up the match and giving both teams an early opportunity playing a top-level game," said Aspetuck Head Coach Ray Weiner.
