Royal Irish defeated Aspetuck in a clash of two top-ranked HS clubs Saturday, with the Indiana team edging out their Connecticut rivals on the second-last play of the game.
Some highly-rated HS rugby teams gathered in Charlotte, NC this weekend to celebrate the return to action for the Charlotte RFC’s rugby facility.
Aspetuck took on Staples HS in Connecticut and got plenty of competition from their in-state rivals.
The day started with Aspetuck needing to learn the adjusted rules for COVID that would be enforced playing the High School Team from Westport. The biggest impact was the rule that no mauls would be allowed, and Aspetuck seemed to be off their game a bit because of it.
Aspetuck emerged victorious from a small four-team tournament held in Pennsylvania Sunday, defeating West Shore United and Berks to continues the team's fine run of form.
Aspetuck out of Connecticut defeated Berks out of Pennsylvania in a tough opener for both teams.
