Notre Dame College hosts a qualifier for the USA Rugby College 7s Championships, with eight men’s college teams vying for a spot in the big tournament in Denver.
It’s a competitive field of teams, with Notre Dame College among the top seeds. The Falcons showed very well in the Las Vegas Invitational in February, and brings a straightforward, hard-nosed approach to their 7s.
It’s the third tournament in the Altantic Coast Rugby League’s 7s series leading up to next week’s final in Knoxville, Tenn.
This week it’s Tupelo, Miss. that hosts the event, with a nine-team bracket that includes the two teams that have contested the final each of the last two tournaments - South Carolina and Tennessee.
Air Force Academy and Colorado State headline the Rocky Mountain 7s tournament this weekend in Fort Collins, Colo.

Having cut something of a swath through the first Big Ten Universities tournament, scoring less than 50 points only once, a 43-0 shutout of Ohio State’s 2nd team.
IU was unstoppable, slamming Illinois 54-10 in the final, and overall scoring 253 points in five games and allowing 34.
Indiana won the Big Ten Universities qualifier tournament this weekend, and in fact it wasn't really all that close. IU is highly motivated to do well in 7s, and thumped Illinois - who had already beaten Michigan, our previously highest-ranked Big Ten team - in the final.
